I dedicate Seven Seasons to my friend Harriet, who walked  into my paintings and has been and will be a part of many paintings to come. I finished "Harriet's Sunset"   the day before she departed this world to wherever it was she was going, and I got the distinct impression she was on her way somewhere.... We shared a deep friendship and spent a great deal of time in one of our gardens, talking about life and death, lessons, boundaries and the attainment of wisdom.

The Paintings....in low light, incandescent light and close up.....

This group of paintings, that I called  Seven Seasons  represented the many faces of a passing year. The paintings are about growing up in Canada, and childhood memories I have of my little North Ontario hometown of Cochrane. The climate, with so many sharp contrasts over a year, had a lasting impact on me and it was there I learned there really is more than just four seasons! Early spring contrasts greatly with late spring. July is vastly different than September, although both encompass summer. As Northerners, we watch these oftentimes spectacular contrasts as the seasons pass. I have always been deeply connected to the changes that a  minute, an hour, or a day, can make in the light, sky and air.
