And then there was the music. I got a full education in music living in the small northern town where people had the largest record collections of anyone I've yet to meet. I remember some gathering at the bandstand when a Couroville (?) boy played the guitar and sang like Cat Stevens -Wild World and Hard Headed Woman. How does that happen in a little town like that? Us Cochrane kids LOVED music. I always listen to music when I paint, so whenever I'm thinking of the north and painting moons, water and firs, I'm often listening Neil Young. His music shaped my brain from the time I was 13, when I purchased Harvest. to....well, he still is. My paintings and the way I see the world is infused with his music.
