2016- My new collection "Fields" (featuring 3 new paintings) is dedicated to my Great Aunt Winifred Riley. She was one of the most colourful people I've ever met. Aunt Win was flamboyant, expressive, crafty, artistic, a bit wacky, fun, knowledgeable about the natural world, well-read and very interesting although sometimes she had "strong" opinions about things.
Aunt Win appreciated a field of wildflowers and would know all their names and perhaps even their medicinal qualities! She ignited my imagination and inspired the artist in me. When I think of the north, I think of my Aunt Win. She was well into her 90's when she passed and was laid to rest in Birch Hill Cemetery near Brower.
