GrayBell Studio is named for my granddaughters Gracie and Isobel. It is nestled at the bottom of a gentle slope, in a clearing in the woods. It is a quiet, protected place full of light, warmth and peace. Being there restores me.
The process and the place...
Sometimes, my paintings have many, many, many layers. Above are a few shots of the evolution of "Spilled Light" 36x36" Acrylic-SOLD
The Studio: GrayBell is a place of retreat where I know I will be uninterrupted. I have an old CD player and lots of good music and that for me is crucial to the painting process. I paint 2-4 hours almost every day when I'm on a roll. My most productive painting time is usually fall and winter.
